Well today was my first instance of losing one of my chickens to unnatural causes. One of my silkies (the little blue one) caught the interest of Twilight one of our retrievers. So far until today, everyone had been living happily co-existing in their own little worlds. I had noticed that the little buff Silkie that normally hangs out with the blue one, was all by itself earlier today, and thought it kind of odd, so I stopped to look around for the blue one. I checked all his favorite hiding places, got down on my hands and knees and was looking everywhere. He was no where to be found. Until Twilight came up to show us what he had caught. Twilight will no longer be allowed to play while the chickens are out free ranging.
On a Happier Note: I have some eggs set to hatch late today or sometime tomorrow!! Lavender Orpingtons, Black Copper Marans, and Americaunas. Wish them luck!!
